Venezuela is located on the northern coast of South America and enjoys a tropical climate year-round attracting tourists from Germany, Italy, Spain and North America. About half the country is forest, including rainforest. Venezuela boasts countless paradise-like islands along its nearly 1,800 miles of coastline. In addition, the country has a well-developed infrastructure, 35 national parks, and Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall.
Angel Falls - The world's highest falls cascade from twice the height of the Empire State Building. The falls are located in the vast Gran Sabana region with mountains and a dense jungle.
Margarita Island - Semi-tropical to semi-arid, with mountains up to 2,500 ft. There are wonderful beaches, all kinds of water sports, fish, produce, handcraft markets, shops, lodging and restaurants.
Colonia Tovar - A Bavarian-style village, 41 miles west of Caracas and founded in 1848 by German immigrants. It was isolated until 1963 when a road was opened. There are shops, inns, and restaurants serving German food. Also visit El Junquito, a colonial farming town.
The Andes - There are wonderful treks surrounding Merida, many of which can be reached by jeep, horse, or mule. The lakes and views are fabulous, and the villages are interesting.
