Throughout the course of this program, you will study the most important Spanish and Latin American authors in order to acquire a global understanding of the Spanish literary cannon. All texts will be analyzed in Spanish, as they were originally written. We will identify key literary trends and differentiate the characteristics of important periods such as the Golden Age, the Romantic era, the Generation of 1927, the Contemporary Novel, and much more.
In accordance with these objectives, the syllabus includes works by masters as varied as Cervantes, Lorca, Cela, Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Borges and Carlos Fuentes. All the while you will improve your professional language skills and acquire a deeper understanding of both Spanish and Latin American cultures.
Barcelona, a city of 2 million, is literally bursting with art and culture.
It has been breaking ground in art, architecture and has its peculiar Catalonian style, between southern Europe and northern Spain.
The Modernism trail all around the city followed by the colorful and intricate architecture created by the world famous Gaudi, the Gothic Neighborhood, and the pedestrian street Las Ramblas make this city a traveler and art lovers paradise.
Known as Spain's second capital, Barcelona is a modern metropolis and cultural mecca. Located on the Mediterranean coast with mountains rising up behind it, Barcelona is the gateway from Spain to the rest of Europe. Both beach and ski resorts are within easy access.

From its dazzling beaches to its ancient castles, Spain is a country as diverse as the cultures which have influenced its art, architecture, music and lifestyle. It is a land where cathedrals, roman ruins and arabic kashbas are interspersed with skyscrapers, where modern rock mixes with flamenco guitar, and night clubs compete with cozy "tapas" bars.
It is easy to travel, the climate is generally benign, people is friendly, relaxed and fun-loving.
And of course is the home contry of the second largest speaked language in the world: Spanish.
The more you travel through Spain, the more you get the differences between regions, you will realize how many Spains there are.
From hot, dry, home of bullfigting and flamenco Andalucia, to fertile Cataluņa, to the mainland Castilla to the mediterranean coast of Levante facing the laving on the Mediterranean sea.
Spain offers some of the world's most famous museums, resorts, and festivals, making it a unique and enchanting destination.
