Learn Chinese in Taipei
Chinese Immersion in Taiwan
Learning Chinese abroad in Taipei, Taiwan is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Originally known to Portuguese mariners in the 16th century as ‘Ilha Formosa’ or ‘the beautiful island’, for its inherent beauty, this island proudly displays towering mountain peaks and beautiful coastal scenes. Located 100 miles off the southeastern coast of the Asian mainland, it is considered to be a natural gateway for travelers to and within Asia. Taiwan is one of the most densely populated countries of the world, a melting pot of Hakka, Taiwanese and mainland Chinese people. Only about 390,000 of the people are indigenous, the original inhabitants of the island. And its traditional culture which is similar to that of China, though still apparent in rural towns, has largely been transformed into an industrialized society.
Learn Chinese Language in Taiwan:
Taiwan, the main island in a group of 78 islands, off the coast of China, is dominated by the Central Mountain Range covering most of the island. Taipei, the capital, is a very modern western style city where glass-faced high-rise office buildings, luxury condos, and modern department stores tower above wide, tree-lined boulevards. Great nightlife to be found, with theatres, bars and clubs, but Taipei is still Chinese at heart, with an underlying current of traditional lifestyles and culture that make it fascinating for international travelers. Throughout the city are timeless scenes from the world's oldest civilization: Taipei is truly a city of many faces, where ancient and modern coexist.
School Facilities:
Our school has three campuses in Taipei. Students can easily transfer between any of the centers. The main campus occupies the third and fourth floors in a modern commercial building located on Roosevelt Road, a main thoroughfare in the southern part of the city. The surrounding area is one of the most popular residential districts in Taipei, particularly among university students. It has an abundance of restaurants, shops, night markets, and nightclubs. Capacity 200 students/day.
Participants:
Many Japanese, Taiwanese (learning English) and European students.
