Types of Academic Study Abroad Programs

AmeriSpan offers two distinct types of study abroad programs so that you can find the program that meets your individual needs and interests.

Language and Culture Programs
These programs are geared towards students who want a language intensive study abroad experience. The Language and Culture programs offer varied start dates dependent on the program location, you can earn 4-12 foreign language credits. It is important to note the independent nature of the Language and Culture programs, although these are fairly structured programs with activities and excursions you may be the only Academic Study Abroad student. You will still interact with non-Academic Study Abroad students studying the language.

Language and Culture PLUS Programs
These programs offer the basic core of the Language and Culture program, foreign language classes, PLUS they allow you to take a variety of electives in various subject areas. The combination of language classes and electives (taught primarily in English) will allow you to earn 14-18 credits.   The Language and Culture PLUS structure and start dates are specific to each location.  All participants begin and complete the program at the same time.
