Cordoba Independent Teen

Argentina is the second largest country in South America and borders Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay. With an enormously varied climate, travelers can visit sub-Antarctic rainforests, tropical jungles, mountains, beaches, desert red canyons and awesome waterfalls. The bus system is one of the best in the world, offering movies, meals, and comfortable service to all areas. The population mix, as in Chile and Uruguay, is very different from the rest of Latin America because the population is almost all European. Most of the indigenous people were wiped out in wars during the 19th century.

Virtually undiscovered by North American tourists, this city has a little of everything for visitors. Founded in 1573, Cordoba boasts many colonial style cathedrals and buildings. Like many other cities in Latin America built by the Spanish, the city was designed using a grid system and is void of intimidating skyscrapers making it easy to navigate despite its size (population 1.5 million). Cordoba is alive with a university town feel, offering many cultural activities and an active nightlife while still being one of Argentina’s most important industrial centers.

School Facilities: The school is located downtown within proximity to the city’s shopping district. Both teen and adult students can enjoy services such as swimming pool, a garden and a library. Capacity is 40 students/day. Participants are mainly from Europe but we expect nearly as many North Americans. Students stay in a homestay with 3 meals/day included.

Activities/Excursions: City tour of Cordoba and daily interactive afternoon activities are included. Weekend excursions may be available on-site at an additional cost.

Lodging & Meals: Homestay with 3 meals/day

Supervision: Please note although this program will accept teenagers from 14-18 this is an UNSUPERVISED PROGRAM. This program is for mature, independent teens who understand along with their parents/guardians that little supervision will be provided and that all teens will be treated like mature, independent adults by school staff and host families. Cordoba is a good destination for independent teens because it has a youthful population, isn't too big of a city and the locals are friendly.

To/From School: Participants travel unaccompanied either via walk or public transportation.
