Mexico Volunteer Placement

Harold & Jodi were mental health professionals in Missouri. After trips to Oaxaca they moved there as they were concerned about children working in the streets.In 1996 they founded Oaxacan Street Children Grassroots and created a sponsorship program. Nowadays more than 250 children and teens have Godparents to help them.

Mexico Overview

Placement Tasks:
Volunteers will assist with teaching, educational duties as well as basic care. Help in the kitchen; play with the kids and help then with homework. Do some general administrative work. Volunteers must be willing to help in all areas mentioned.

Work Schedule: Arranged on site

Location of Placements: Oaxaca

Lodging: Volunteer Residence, shared room, self catering

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Minimum commitment: 6 weeks.
• Minimum Spanish level: Mid-Intermediate
• Take at least 2 weeks of General Spanish course
• Provide love, care, and attention to the children.
